You may choose between Dial-up or Fast, depending on the speed of your connection.

bullet

HINT #1: You may chose the Fast examples even if you have a dial-up connection.  It will take a few extra seconds for the clips to start playing, but the audio may be entirely buffered by your system; the quality of the audio at Fast is superior!

bullet

HINT #2: On the RealPlayer controls window, go to the View menu item and chose On Top While Playing.

You can listen to many more examples of music we have restored, in our E-seum.  Just click on the Enter Time Machine signs throughout the site.

Dial-up

Fast

1. Female vocalist.  LP was extremely worn out and scratchy. Restoration brings the voice into focus.  The quality of the vocal sound was also restored.

2. Instrumental.  Heavy hiss and crackles.  Restoration eliminates completely the hiss, crackles and other noises.   The music is much more listenable, although a little muted.

3. Male vocalist.  LP damaged probably by bad needle.  The quality of the voice is restored completely.  Some very light noise is still audible.

4. Classical.  Piano & orchestra.   Record was clean, with occasional scratches.  Restoration eliminated the scratches completely.  The orchestral and piano sound were maintained 100%.

5. Female vocalist.  Heavy scratches, hiss, crackles. Needle damage.  Quality of the voice was restored, crackles and hiss eliminated.  Some of the heavier scratches audible, but at much reduced levels.

6. Male vocalist. The LP was completely shot.  The music on it was great, so we tried to save it.  The restoration is much more listenable.  In order not to kill the vocals, some noise was allowed to pass.

7. Male vocalist.  Spoken part was unintelligible on the LP.  It "miraculously" becomes intelligible after restoration.

8. Classical. Piano solo.  Original was clean and free of scratches, but had a myriad of dust crackles ("French fries" noise).  Crackles were completely eliminated in the restoration.   Piano sound was maintained 100% intact.

9. Male vocal group.  Original LP severely damaged.  Restoration makes the recording listenable and eliminates most of the noise.  (Trade-off: voices are somewhat muted.)

10. Male vocalist.  Original LP very noisy.  Restoration cleans most noise, and preserves the voice quality.

11. Instrumental. LP damaged by heavy use and bad needle.  Most noise eliminated in restoration.  Interesting to note that in the original recording the piano was miked with a bad microphone.  (We couldn't fix that. . .)

12. Male vocalist.  The LP was "terminally" damaged.  This is an extreme case.  The restoration is more listenable, but some noise can still be heard.

13. Instrumental. Another "extreme" example.  The restoration eliminated most objectionable noises.

The following examples are in MP3 format.

NOTE:  These samples are taken from a typical restoration session here at CVC Productions.  They were in no way "specially" processed, or "prepped" to sound great (as it is frequently the case in advertising.   Just ask a TV commercial producer what they use in cereal commercials when they show milk.  Hint: it ain't milk. . .).  By the way, Special and Custom sound restoration processing are available at our studio rates.

bulletIf you would like to listen to longer versions of these examples on your stereo, in full CD quality, order our Before and After Sampler CD.
