Types of Noises Successfully Removed or Diminished

We try to restore the sound to match the original sound of the master tapes, at the time when the recording was made.  We perform Restorations and Transfers to CD starting from almost any format.  Read the complete list of Formats Accepted.

Here are the most common types of noises we remove or diminish from old recordings:

bulletScratches
bulletCrackles
bulletPops
bulletVinyl hiss
bulletCylinder noise
bulletTape hiss
bulletStatic noise
bulletHum
bulletBuzzes
bulletMotor or A/C noise
bulletConstant pitched noises
bulletClicks or ticks
   
bulletThese corrections can be applied at additional cost:
bulletCorrect the pitch or the speed of a recording
bulletRemove excessive low or high frequencies
bulletRemove the RIAA phono curve and/or use alternative curves
bulletCreate high frequencies using the mid-range frequencies with the use of an "Exciter"
bulletGive recordings a sweeter, tube-amplifier sound
bulletGive recordings a harsher, digital sound
   
bulletUsing our sound restoration techniques in most cases we improve the quality grade of records by a couple of grades.

There are some types defects and distortions that are very hard or impossible to restore.  We want our customers to be informed.  Please read about Limitations in Sound Restoration on the Questions and Answers page.

bulletWe will apply our Noise Reduction Philosophy for all recordings we receive for Restoration and Transfer to CD, unless you instruct us otherwise.
   
bulletWe accept requests for "more" or "less" noise reduction.   Use the "Special Instructions" space on the order form to request  "more" or "less" noise reduction.  
   
bulletWe'll be happy to answer all your questions about the specific type of Sound Restoration we can apply for your recordings.  Please write to:
